Floral Designer/Plant Technician/Creative Collaborator
We are looking for someone who can assist both our interior and exterior departments in the design, execution, installation and removal of seasonal décor and special event projects. We are looking for someone who is passionate about his or her work and has a keen eye for detail. This position can at times be physically demanding. It offers the candidate the opportunity to work independently and to enjoy a varied daily routine. This is a full-time position and a valid WI driver’s license is required
Job Description:
- Working knowledge of floral design.
- Creativity and the ability to execute design ideas from start to finish.
- Design with both real and artificial flowers for clients/events and deliver as need be for both interior and exterior accounts.
- Work with Interior and Exterior on plant installs/removals
- Fill special orders for holidays or other occasions.
- Maintenance - Visit corporate client sites on a weekly basis and service all necessary plants on a planned schedule.
- Interact with clients in a professional manner.
- Water, clean, prune, and assess plants for disease and insects and/or replacement
- Must be a team player, a good communicator and possess the ability to take direction and assume accountability for daily work and special projects.
- Responsible for warehouse cleanliness and organization-receives and stores various materials
- This position can at times be physically demanding.
NOTE: Customer sites are predominantly large business and corporation offices, but can include visits to other sites such as restaurants and private homes/apartment complexes. Strong communication skills are necessary.
Job Requirements:
- Horticulture knowledge is highly preferred but we will train the right person.
- Ability to reach, climb, use ladders, kneel, lift (up to 50lbs) and walk for extended periods in both interior and exterior environments.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
- Must be detail oriented and have good communication skills.
- Ability to read and complete daily paperwork.
- Customer service skills for face-to-face interaction.
- Must be able to work independently both indoors and outdoors.
- Candidate needs a good driving record and reliable vehicle, per mile reimbursement after technician gets to first account of the day. Will also drive company vehicle as needed/available.
- Must be able to navigate in downtown Milwaukee and surrounding areas.
Required to help with Holiday season decorating, setup, and breakdown (Oct-Jan).
Desired Position Qualifications:
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
- Professional appearance
- Design or event planning experience
- Possession of valid Wisconsin driver's license
- Legally available to work in the US
- Speaks and understands English; bilingual Spanish is a plus
Working Conditions:
- The position requires:
- Sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, and grasping in the performance of daily
- The ability to do repetitive motion for long periods.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs
- The ability to work some weekends beginning Oct. thru January.
- The ability to work on ladders, scissor lifts (possibly) indoors and out
- The ability to work with live greenery materials such as pine, juniper and balsam.
- The ability to pass drug screening.
